About EPSC
Emberton Park Sailing Club is situated within Emberton Country Park, about 1 mile south of Olney on the A509.
There are four lakes within the Park, and EPSC members have exclusive use of Heron Water. One of the unique features of our sailing lake is the fact that we have an island...this means we have an ideal location for beginners (you are never far from the shore), but with the surrounding flora and forna, the location can also be challenging for the best of sailors (the wind is never in the same direction).
Clubhouse
The Clubhouse has all the modern facilities you expect, including heating, showers, toilets, kitchen, bar, lounge and patio.
Club Boats
If you own your own dinghy, there is the option to store your boat on site, otherwise you can hire one of the Club owned dinghies for a small fee. The Club currently has Laser 1's, Pico, Toppers and Enterprises available for hire.
Racing or Cruising
The Club has a full racing program which operates throughout the year. There is racing every Sunday with the first race starting at 11:00am and lasting 45 minutes, and a second race starting immediately after at 11:45am and lasting 45 minutes. There is a short break for lunch before the afternoon race commences at 1:15pm and lasts for 1 hour.
One of the most popular races is the Ormonde Gurr series which operates on a Wednesday evening at 7:00pm and runs from April through to early September. If you've never tried racing, why not come down and ask one of the members all about it. You can help to crew if you dont feel confident enough to have a go on your own. You will soon find that racing is the most social and exciting part of sailing.
The upshot of it is that we're a friendly bunch that dont take racing too seriously, but if racing is definately not "your thing", you can sail your dinghy any time outside of the racing calendar. As a member, you have full access to the club grounds and clubhouse facilities.
Social Events
Social events are organised throughout the year and include Christmas Parties, Presentation Evenings, New Members Tea's and visits to various dinghy shows.
Beginners
Whether you are a complete novice or have sailed before, all sailing abilities are welcomed at EPSC. One of the best ways to learn the sport is to crew for one of the existing members during the Sunday morning or Wednesday evening races.
